The Great Thief

Chapter 598: Working with the NPC

Nekrum Gutchewer was a little like Theka the Martyr – he was also someone who should’ve been buried underground ages ago.

After Nekrum Gutchewer passed away, he continued to exist with an incredible method.

This involved him staying with Shadowpriest Sezz’ziz. The two Trolls hunted for sacrifices together to offer to the mysterious beast that slept in the centre of the city. Countless Troll followers anxiously waited for the awakening of the beast, doing anything to see the ceremony with their own eyes.

The Trolls who exited the great stage of history always wanted to restore their ancestors’ glory.

In the beginning, Trolls were the original race of Azeroth. They fought with the Azj’Aqir empire for the throne of the continent. Besides them, the Humans, Dwarves and Goblins were all created by the Titans. Even the Night Elves were actually a part of the Dark Trolls.

These Dark Trolls were originally a fierce race; they destroyed the last defense of the Azj’Agir empire, but they also paid a price for it.

The poison of the battle tainted their blood and turned their skin black. They were forced to bear the pain of the poison for the rest of their lives. Many of them chose to commit suicide, but some of them survived with their strong will. They then discovered that the poison had a strange effect – it gave them immortality.

These strange Trolls were not accepted by their own kind, so they migrated besides the Well of Eternity and was affected by its Arcane energy. Eventually, they evolved into Night Elves.

In summary, Trolls were once the glorious race of the continent.

Many Trolls couldn’t accept the fall of their race, and it was this strong will that caused them to turn Undead. They were beings who refused to die.

Lu Li always had a great respect for them, but he had to kill them regardless.

There were two Bosses in front of them, real Bosses who were stronger than the couple from the Scarlet Monastery.

Sergeant Brad was the only Boss model among his team, so he had to stand in front. Before he stepped forward, he still remembered to remind these adventurers, "Brave men, we fight for freedom!"

Lu Li didn’t ask his team to hold back this time.

"Breeze, go look after the Shadowpriest."

There were also other monsters in this wave, so if they let too many of the mercenary group die, Lu Li’s team wouldn’t be able to hold up against the two Bosses.

Nekrum Gutchewer didn’t have many skills. His most common skill was Fever, which was a little like Theka’s, but stronger.

The huge damage figures that popped up on top of Sergeant Brad’s head were all thanks to the Fever status.

The strong man instantly became weak. His Priest didn’t use many healing skills; she spent most of her time attacking.

From this aspect, it was possible to see that these NPCs had limited wisdom.

The two Warriors fought intensely, but Sergeant Brad only had around 40,000 HP while Nekrum Gutchewer had about a 160,000 HP.

Lu Li sent Hachi Chan over to heal Sergeant Brad, which evened out the fight.

The other nine players from Lu Li’s team focused on Shadowpriest Sezz’ziz. Sezz’ziz was a caster who had around 180,000 HP, and was stronger than Nekrum Gutchewer.

The most annoying part of his skillset was Soul Shriek. This was the crowd control skill that March Rain had also learned, and was what allowed Ruling Sword’s team to pull off countless miracles.

As Lu Li’s team fought, they would suddenly run around like lost flies. Not only did they lose the ability to deal damage, but their team formation also became a mess. In the end, nobody bothered about the team formation; everyone just dealt damage whenever they could.

Although Shadowpriest Sezz’ziz knew how to attack with Shadow Bolt, he was actually a healer.

This was the truth that sent players crying – he was a healing class and knew more than just a basic healing spell.

Bosses that happened to have a healing skill would just heal themselves once when their health dropped to a certain percentage. At the very most, they would heal themselves two to three times in one battle.

However, Shadowpriest Sezz’ziz was an actual healer.

Not only did he heal himself, but he also healed his team mates.

Shadowpriest Sezz’ziz had two healing skills. One was called Heal, which he often casted on himself.

He also had a skill called Renew, which March Rain had also learned. This was a spell that regenerated its target’s health every 30 seconds.

If you didn’t do anything about the status, Nekrum Gutchewer would always be constantly regenerating his health.

Even if Sergeant Brad and his team tired themselves to death, they wouldn’t be able to kill a Boss like this.

Fortunately, Wandering was capable of dispelling his enemies’ magic. As such, March Rain didn’t have to divert her attention to Nekrum Gutchewer while she healed her team members. This would have been far too stressful for her.

The scene was a mess – there were two Bosses and countless monsters to clear against five NPC and ten players.

Lu Li focused on taking down Shadowpriest Sezz’ziz. As soon as he died, Nekrum Gutchewer would become a piece of cake.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t order the NPCs around. It would save them a lot of time if both parties focused down Shadowpriest Sezz’ziz first.

The battle lasted around half an hour. Shadowpriest Sezz’ziz’s health finally dropped to 30%, which was good work against a Boss who constantly healed himself.

The busiest player in this fight was March Rain – she had to look after her team members’ health and had to heal Sergeant Brad with Hachi Chan every now and then.

Fever was a status that could be stacked, and upon a certain number, a strong heal had to be casted on Sergeant Brad. Thanks to the healing buff, Nekrum Gutchewer still had 70% of his health. These mercenaries were honestly too weak.

"March, Hachi Chan, after this Boss dies, don’t heal the mercenary group’s boss anymore. Just make sure he doesn’t die. The lower his health, the better the situation," Lu Li whispered quietly in the team chat.

"Ah, but he only has 40,000 HP!" Hachi Chan was surprised.

What she implied was that this was an easy boss with little health. They would be able to win easily, even if they turned against each other.

Lu Li was speechless. "You’re all daydreaming. What kind of level 40 Boss would only have 40,000 health points and nothing else?"
